ITIL is around now for many years, unvortunately it hasn't received alway the best critics, especially in large scale procjects where different stakeholder requirements needs to be alligend.

The way forward to start and implementtion is first to raise awareness in you organisation, try to communicate the "Content of ITIL" before you actually

 

start with any implemenation steps.

To speed up your ITIL project you may look for a predefined model, like the one from Casewise. This allows you not only to communicate the content in a graphical way, but also to adapt the content of the process to your own needs.
